1. What Is a Scanner?

A scanner is a device used to convert documents or photos into digital files so they can be saved on a computer.

• Flatbed Scanner – for documents or photos placed on scanner glass
• Sheet-fed Scanner – for many paper documents, fast and automatic
• Handheld Scanner – moved manually, suitable for books or images

2. How to Scan Documents or Photos

1. Place the document or photo on the scanner correctly.
2. Open the scanning application on the computer (for example Windows Fax and Scan or printer software).
3. Select the document type: photo or text document.
4. Set the resolution and file format (such as JPG or PDF).
5. Click Scan and wait for the result to appear on the computer.

3. Safe and Neat Scanning Tips

• Make sure the scanner glass is clean and dust-free.
• Use the right resolution: high for photos, standard for documents.
• Save scanned files in an easy-to-find folder.
• Ask for help from parents when scanning important documents.
